Faqs
Do I need any prior experience with mindfulness or meditation?
Not at all. This series is designed for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Whether you’re brand new or looking to refresh your skills, you’ll leave with tools you can start using right away.
Is this just for educators?
No. Teaching Mindful Moments is open to anyone working with students or community members—including mentors, volunteers, librarians, nonprofit staff, and more.
What will I learn?
You’ll learn how to lead short, research-backed mindfulness practices in real-world settings—like classrooms, after-school programs, or neighborhood groups. You’ll also explore the science behind these practices and how to use them safely and effectively.
How is this different to MIEA Teacher Certification?
Teaching Mindful Moments is a practical introduction to leading brief mindfulness moments. It doesn’t require a daily meditation practice or prepare you to teach our flagship 4-week curriculum for young adults, Intro to Mindfulness.
Teaching Mindful Moments is a great option if you’re curious about integrating a little bit of mindfulness into your teaching but aren’t ready to commit to a longer program.
What’s the time commitment?
Five live sessions, each about 60–90 minutes long. There’s no required homework, but we’ll share optional resources you can use between sessions.
Will I get a certificate of completion?
Yes. Participants who attend all five sessions will receive a certificate of participation from MIEA.
How is Teaching Mindful Moments delivered?
Teaching Mindful Moments is available in two flexible formats to meet the needs of your team or institution:
- Online Format: Participate in five 90-minute live online sessions led by expert MIEA faculty. This option is ideal for individuals or small groups who prefer learning over time and want to integrate the material between sessions.
- In-Person Format: Host a two-day, in-person training on your campus or at your organization. This immersive experience is facilitated by MIEA faculty and offers the most cost-effective way to train multiple team members at once. It’s a great choice for building shared language and momentum across departments.
Both formats offer the same high-quality content and include hands-on instruction in evidence-based mindfulness tools that can be applied in academic, clinical, and workplace settings.
Interested in hosting an in-person training? Email info@miea.com to learn more about scheduling and pricing.
Cancellations made up 48 hours before the mindfulness training starts will receive an exchange for a different mindfulness training or a 100% refund depending on your preference. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the course start will receive an exchange only.
This course will be rescheduled if we do not have at least 6 participants 48 hours before the mindfulness training starts. In that case, you can sign up for any course of your choosing, or request a full refund by emailing info@miea.com.
