What is the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults (MIEA)?
MIEA (formerly Koru Mindfulness) both trains and certifies educators to teach mindfulness programs for emerging adults and directly delivers these programs to organizations.
Our flagship course, Intro to Mindfulness, was developed at Duke University’s student counseling center and has been proven effective through multiple randomized, controlled trials.
Today, we partner with campuses and workplaces worldwide to bring mindfulness into classrooms, teams, and everyday life.
Are you Koru Mindfulness? What changed?
Yes, we were formerly Koru Mindfulness. We’ve renamed ourselves to more clearly reflect our mission and respond to cultural sensitivity concerns about the word “koru.”
Our curriculum name has also updated to “Intro to Mindfulness“.
Emerging adults, young adults, college-aged adults—what’s the difference?
“Emerging adulthood” (ages 18–29) is the term for this unique developmental stage. Young adults = emerging adults!
